All activities geared to the external public, such as exhibits, seminars, open courses and services provided, make up the university's extension area. ESDI has traditionally
played a quite active role in this segment, offering several seminars,
lectures, exhibits and workshops. Rendering services however, has also
become a major activity during the last few years. Projects such as the urban furniture developed for the company JCDecaux in 1998, or the Integrated Cultural Centers for the State Secretariat of Culture of Rio de Janeiro have provided a unique opportunity for students and professors to work together, putting the activities developed at school to practical use. You can find more information on either completed projects or others still in progress at ESDI, along with many other extension activities, like 'ESDI : Wide Open Windows', focused on high-school students that consider enrolling at ESDI.
