Este trabalho estuda a relação entre design industrial e o setor de energia offshore, duas áreas que historicamente mantiveram pouca interação. O estudo objetiva identificar uma oportunidade de inovação ao aplicar o design centrado no usuário e a prototipagem no desenvolvimento de uma solução focada na segurança em ambiente offshore. A pesquisa adota uma abordagem exploratória, utilizando uma metodologia que inclui uma revisão sistemática da literatura e um estudo de caso realizado em uma empresa de engenharia submarina e operação de navios PLSVs (pipe laying support vessels). Além disso, a pesquisa aborda os atuais desafios do setor offshore, como a digitalização e a transição energética, uma grande mudança na exploração de combustíveis fósseis para energias renováveis. Espera-se que os resultados obtidos nesse estudo contribuam para pesquisas futuras na área de energia offshore focadas no design, além de contribuir para uma maior conexão entre designers, profissionais da área offshore e pesquisadores.

This paper studies the relationship between industrial design and the offshore energy sector, two areas that have historically had little interaction. The study aims to identify an opportunity for innovation by applying user-centered design and prototyping in the development of a solution focused on safety in an offshore environment. The research adopts an exploratory approach, using a methodology that includes a systematic review of the literature and a case study carried out in a subsea engineering company and operation of PLSVs (pipe laying support vessels). In addition, the research addresses the current challenges facing the offshore sector, such as digitalization and the energy transition, a major shift in exploitation from fossil fuels to renewable energies. It is hoped that the results obtained in this study will contribute to future research in the area of offshore energy focused on design, as well as contributing to a greater connection between designers, offshore professionals and researchers.
